Malhotra got his first break as a Bollywood costume designer with the Juhi Chawla starrer Swarg. Five years later, he grabbed everyone's attention for winning a Filmfare Costume Award for styling Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela. From then on, his career went on an upward spiral.

Today, Manish Malhotra is famous for his beautifully ornate bridal wear designs. Royal€ is the first word that comes to mind when one sees his glittering lehengas with intricate work on them; some of these lehengas weigh as much as 25 kg!

Some of the biggest names who have walked for Malhotra's bridal line include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin, and Parineeti Chopra. When Alia Bhatt walked for him in 2014, she rightly said that an actress's life is incomplete until she walks for Manish Malhotra.

In his career spanning 25 years, Manish Malhotra has worked on over 1000 films. He is known for his creative vision and ability to create a unique look€ for a film character. The designer has been felicitated by multiple national institutions, and received countless awards for his work on Bollywood movies.

Besides Swarg and Rangeela his repertoire of films includes huge names like Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuchh Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Mohabbatein, and many more.

Pushing boundaries

Manish Malhotra's talent has not been confined to India. He has worked with international celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Reese Witherspoon, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Other than the world of Bollywood and haute couture, Malhotra has put his talent to use in other fields as well. Hard to believe? He designed the team gear for Kolkata Knight Riders for the Indian Premier League.
